Ok - this is getting ridiculous - no Friday Five two weeks in a row!! I'm going back in time and grabbing one from a year ago:

1. What was your most memorable moment from the last week?
Last night I attended the retirement party of my next door neighbor. He has been a volunteer reserve sheriff's deputy for 37 years. He has given his time and talents for nearly 40 years for absolutely nothing. I was moved beyond belief that this quiet man has given so much. Gordon, my neighbor, and his wife Judith have become surrogate grandparents to my husband and me, and a great-grandparents to our son. We visit with them at least once a week, invite them over for dinner or go to their house, and we have included them, as they have us, in family get-togethers. Not only have they taken us in as their own, but their own children and grandchildren have welcomed us. It's not that we don't have family of our own, but we all know there is always room for more. I look forward to my son growing up around these fine people and maybe learning a thing or two from them. I couldn't think of anyone better.

2. What one person touched your life this week?
Probably Gordon - see above.

3. How have you helped someone this week?
I work for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and we just completed our newest Community Needs Assessment for Central Oklahoma. This is a comprehensive look at the services being provided in our area, who needs our services, and what services are lacking. We use this as a guide to make decisions on who to give our money to. It feels good to come to work every day and know that what you are doing is making a difference in someone's life.

4. What one thing do you need to get done by this time next week?
Find someone to be our Race Chair. Each year we conduct the Race for the Cure. It's a huge production and it takes hundreds of volunteers to pull off. The most important volunteer is obviously the Race Chair. That person is responsible for making sure every other volunteer gets their stuff done. It's a daunting position and I am having the hardest time finding someone willing to do it. grrrr!

5. What one thing will you do over the next seven days to make your world a better place?
It sounds so simple, but I plan on getting out and planting some flowers. There is something about spring and new flowers that makes me smile. I want my house and yard to make someone smile. I think making someone smile would definitely make my world a better place.
