Is it normal for a grown woman to be more excited about Halloween than her two-year-old son? I suppose Omri (my boy) doesn't really grasp Halloween yet, but I can't wait until tomorrow. We are carving the old pumpkins tonight and putting the finishing touches on the ol' Halloween costumes. I spent weeks trying to come up with the perfect Halloween costumes for the family. I knew we had to go together in some way. Years ago, BO (before Omri) I would make my husband dress up in cutesy couples costumes - Raggedy Ann and Andy, Cleopatra and Mark Antony, Bonnie and Clyde, etc. etc. Now that I have a child, I feel the costumes must be for threes. We started out as SpongeBob (Omri), Patrick (Dad) and Sandy Cheeks (me). I have neither the time nor the inclination to make these costumes so that quickly ruled out idea #2: Monster's Inc. - Sully (Omri), Mike (Dad) and Celia (me). We finally decided on a Dr. Seuss classic, unfortunately I think people will think we got the idea from the upcoming movie, but believe me - when you have a two-year-old you spend a lot of time reading Seuss - Omri will be the Cat in the Hat and his dad and I will be Thing 1 and Thing 2. I can't wait - any ideas you all would have for next year would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps I could start making things right now.
