All I can say is - ? - !!
My mother was raised as a Catholic, but left the church as a teen. I think she would like to go back and, at times, feels compelled to visit. I should point out that she is divorced and remarried. Apparently this is not allowed in the Catholic faith - unlike molesting children and smacking women around. (And of course to remedy the situation, they will move the priest to another location - BRILLIANT!)
Anyhoo - I really never attended church, other than the occasional Easter, Midnight Mass, wedding, funeral, etc. And of course the pity attendings. As in, look her parents don't take her to church, let's take pity on her and take her to our Baptist/Lutheran/Methodist/ etc church on Wednesday night! My brother has also endured these pity trips.
Now I have a child of my own. My husband and I were married in the Catholic church and had our son christened. That's where it has ended. He's only two, but I know I must choose eventually. Should I suck it up and take him myself or should I just sit back and wait for the pity trip?
